Our Mackay Airport Making Christmas a Little Brighter Campaign is aimed at supporting smaller, lesser-known charities and not-for-profit organisations with limited marketing capacity located in our Mackay Isaac region.

In 2023, Mackay Airport were proud to provide $10,000 donation to the following organisations:

  • Broken Ballerina Inc.is about raising awareness and breaking the cycle of family and domestic violence and abuse in the Mackay Community. Between January and October 2023, Broken Ballerina Inc assisted 350 domestic violence victims. The donation will go towards accommodation, food, clothes, transport, furniture and many more items to help domestic violence victims.
  • Kidney Support Network (KSN) is a not-for-profit organisation aimed at providing a better quality of life to persons living with kidney disease and their families. KSN is operated through their Head Office in Mackay, along with local branches including four op shops, a transport service to and from hospital for dialysing clients, hospital visitations with support groups, and a general service of care and empathy. The funds will be used to replace outdated mobile phones for the volunteers who transport patients to and from various appointments.
  • Mackay Pet Rescue Incorporated rescue hundreds of neglected abandoned or stray cats and dogs each year. They have no rescue centre and rely on fosterers to care for animals in their own home. As they receive no government funding, they rely heavily on the community for financial support. The funds will be used to feed these animals and to cover the costs of associated veterinary expenses.
  • Chances Op Shop (Australian Street Aid Projects) offers meals, healthcare, essential items, case management and a safe inclusive place for people experiencing homelessness. The donation will go towards their drop-in centre which will provide a range of clinical and non-clinical programs to facilitate support during the difficult experience of homelessness.
  • Dragons Abreast Mackay supports breast cancer survivors in the region to be fit, have fun and make new friends. The donation will be used for the upkeep on the boat, trailer and tractor which are essential equipment for the organisation.

This campaign will launch at the end of November 2024 and locals are being asked to nominate deserving organisations. This year, you will find new Donation Globes located around our terminal. Passengers are welcome to donate money into the globes, including any foreign currency. All funds donated into the globes will be invested back into the local community as part of this campaign.

Since the launch of the ‘Making Christmas a Little Brighter’ Campaign in 2023, Mackay Airport has donated over $10,000 to help smaller organisation continue the fantastic work they do in our region.
