Mackay Airport joins forces with Orange Sky to give back this Christmas

Mackay Airport will bring some special Christmas cheer today to support those experiencing homelessness this festive season. Through their partnership with Orange Sky, Mackay Airport are proud to provide personal care packs to be distributed to the disadvantaged.

Mackay Airport Head of Operations, Adrian Miles said it was important we support local charities like Orange Sky who are making a difference to those doing it tough over Christmas.

‘This year we wanted to focus on lending a helping hand to the vulnerable in our community and to raise awareness of those who may be struggling at this time. We’re proud supporters of Orange Sky and the great work they do providing people who are experiencing homelessness a way to wash their clothes and have a chat to someone who will listen’

‘Our gift giving has been made possible through the support of our employees, who have shown tremendous generosity in providing the personal care items included in our gift packs. The team are immensely proud to be able to support our community over Christmas.’ said Mr Miles.

Orange Sky Mackay Service Co-ordinator, Lisa Jamieson said, “These gift packs will really make a difference in the lives of those who are going through a tough time. The generosity of Mackay Airport has been fantastic, and we thank the team for their support.”

Orange Sky has been operating in the Mackay community since October 2017, providing those doing it tough with around 2,900 loads of washing and 6,800 hours of genuine and non-judgemental conversation. Orange Sky laundry is located at St Vincent de Paul Office, 14 Juliet St and behind the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre in Anzac Park Sarina.
