Airport’s Vision to Grow Precinct

Mackay Airport is looking at opportunities to grow the Airport precinct with a call for Expressions of Interest from businesses for their new Milton Precinct.

Garry Porter General Manager of Mackay Airport announced the calling of expressions of interest for Milton Precinct today, an exciting new business, retail and entertainment hub to be located on Mackay Airport.

Milton Precinct is located on a premier greenfield site in a highly visible and busy traffic zone on the eastern side of Milton Street.

The vision for Milton Precinct is to provide a rare opportunity for companies to get in on the ground floor. The Precinct offers a unique development opportunity given the Airport’s connectivity and the direct airside access available.

Mackay Airport General Manager Garry Porter, said Milton Precinct was focussed on the long-term infrastructure for the region and the Airport’s role in being smart, sustainable and forging meaningful connections to better serve the needs of the Mackay community well into the future.

“Milton Precinct offers enormous potential for a broad range of current and future aviation related industries including freight and cold storage as well as non-aviation related industries such as advanced manufacturing, technology, entertainment, education, mining and operations.”

Mr Porter said the Expressions of Interest will be open until 3 April 2020 and the Airport was seeking submissions from all interested parties.

Sites available range from 1,000m2 to 50,000m2 and the high-quality purpose built facilities offer prospective businesses an opportunity to tailor the new sites to suit their needs.

“Milton Precinct is part of the Mackay Airport’s overall vision to develop an airport that meet the needs of the region and its community.   We want to utilise the Airport’s land to enable our community to reach its fullest potential and are committed to working with the community, to achieve something we can all be proud of well into the future.”
