Visit Mackay

Mackay has so much to offer - spectacular rainforests and national parks, pristine islands and coastal beaches, colourful reefs and plentiful fishing spots to explore.

Mackay also offers a fantastic calendar of events. In late June the focus is on music as the Mackay Showgrounds comes alive for River Sessions – a solid 12 hours of the latest bands, artists and DJs. If horse racing is more your style for a truly unique Mackay experience come along to the Mackay Airport Beach Horse Racing Festival, held each August. This colourful festival offers four days of action packed fun and a relaxed friendly atmosphere. With direct flights from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Rockhampton and Townsville and connections through to a host of regional Queensland centres, it’s easy to get to Mackay for the Beach Races or any other of the great events on offer throughout the year.

Historical townships offer a genuine country experience. Scenic drives reveal unforgettable views. A bustling city centre with palm-lined streets offer entertainment, a delightful shopping experience, a beautiful blue river and popular attractions. All this is available with a warm and friendly welcome.

Located less than a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Whitsunday Islands, the Mackay region is certainly worth a visit.
